Clan support and tournaments headed to Brink

A new update for Brink is in the final stages of testing, and when it releases across all platforms it will bring full clan support and tournament "Event Ladders," the Bethblog revealed today.

Once the update rolls out, a beta site for the new features will accompany it, which is said to contain "several new sections and shiny new functionality."

Clan creation will occur right on the Brink website, and once it's all registered a dedicated profile page will be available where you can view your clan's stats and invite others to join. You can also manage the roles of each member.

Clan matches will play out in 5v5 games, with the winning team increasing in rank and the losing team suffering a decrease. Additionally, you can register your clan in the more prestigious tournament "Event Ladders," and if you make it all the way to the end you will net your clan a trophy to display on its profile page.

If you're interested in the new features, be sure to create a Brink website account so your team is ready when the update becomes available.

Brink's pre-order bonuses now available as DLC, as usual

It was just about that time, wasn't it? You know, where a game's pre-order bonuses become available for all to purchase as downloadable content? I guess we can't be too hard on Brink, though, given its hefty, free batch of DLC released a few weeks ago. But either way, now you can queue up two pre-order bonus combo packs for 160 MS Points/$1.99 each.

Reminder! Brink's "Agents of Change" remains free until Wednesday

If you happen to have forgotten about Brink's downloadable content, "Agents of Change," here's your friendly reminder. The DLC, first released on August 3, is currently free until this Wednesday, at which point a $10 price-tag will be attached to it. So, if you're the same person who procrastinated downloading the PlayStation Network freebies, keep in mind that there will most likely be no extensions added to this time-frame. Write it down on a piece of paper, your hand, your dog, or something to remind yourself!

Brink free-to-play on Steam this weekend, also 50% off

It's certainly quite the weekend for Bethesda Softworks/Splash Damage's classed-based multiplayer shooter Brink; I mean, first the game's "Agents of Change" DLC has released this week, and now those on Steam can play Brink for free all weekend long! If that weren't good enough, you can also purchase the game for $29.98, a savings of 50%. If you were on the brink of purchasing this one, perhaps now you have your chance.

Download Brink's "Agents of Change" DLC now while it's free!

You've made it! You purchased Brink at launch, suffered through horrendous lag, unplayable matches, and disconnects, and now comes your reward. Brink's "thank you DLC," "Agents of Change" is out right now, and is free of charge for the next two weeks, where after that time the content's price will be 800 MS Points ($9.99). New levels, abilities, outfits and more are what's offered here.

Brink's "Agents of Change" DLC out August 3

After missing its intended "early July" release, Bethesda Softworks has announced that Brink's "Agents of Change" downloadable content pack will be available for download on August 3 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Steam. The pack raises the game's level cap to 24 and contains goodies such as new maps, weapons, outfits, and abilities, and it will be free to download for the first two weeks.

Brink is $20 today on Amazon

While Splash Damage/Bethesda Softwork's class-based multiplayer FPS Brink was not the smash-hit people thought it was going to be, that isn't to say the game is entirely bad. If you had some interest in the game before then you may want to pick it up on Amazon by day's end, as the online retailer is currently selling the Brink for $19.99--a savings of $39.99.

Brink is definitely a fun multiplayer romp, especially with some buds. For $20, you really can't go wrong.

Brink's "Agents of Change" DLC deploys "early July" along with Title Update

If you are still waiting for the first batch of Brink DLC, your wait will soon be over. Bethesda Softworks announced that the "Agents of Change" downloadable content will release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Steam sometime in "early July" as it's currently awaiting the green light from Microsoft and Sony. Oh, it will also be free for the first two weeks of its release!

"Agents of Change" contains two new levels, five new player abilities, two new outfits, and two new weapon attachments--definitely not too shabby of a DLC pack at all.

Bethesda and Splash Damage are also working on another title update for Brink which will release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 alongside "Agents of Change." PC gamers have their own update which is available right now. The patch will [hopefully] address "online optimizations, A.I. enhancements, and weapon balance tweaks based on player feedback."

The "Agents of Change" sounds cool, as does the patch, but I hope it isn't too late for Brink.

Yeah, Brink is Worth About $40

I wanted to love Brink, but in the end its $59.99 price tag-to-content ratio left me a bit underwhelmed. Well, for the next few days that's all going to change, because until June 28 Brink is on sale at GameStop for $39.99--an appropriate price if you ask me.

The multiplayer, while not the second coming of multiplayer gaming, is still a fun, class-based romp. And don't forget the free batch of DLC that is releasing, along with a hefty patch!

Oh, just don't pick up Brink expecting a rich story...

Brink Informs You on its Classes

Another entry in Brink's "Get SMART" series has been released, and this time you will be learning about the game's various classes. This could also give you a jumpstart on deciding who you'll want to play as once the game is released next week for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Get SMART with Brink's HUD

No! Not that Get Smart!

Bethesda Softworks has been running a short video series for their upcoming game Brink titled, "Get SMART", and while we haven't posted any of the prior videos in the series, this latest one caught my fancy. As with any game, the HUD, or head's-up display, plays a vital role in your gameplay experience, and knowing what doo-dad does what can be an invaluable asset.

Thus, we have the lastest Brink "Get SMART" video that teaches you everything you need to know about the game's HUD. So, break out those notebooks!

Brink's DOOM Pre-Order Bonus in Video Form

Brink is a game that has many people excited, and with its DOOM goodies pre-order bonus, Brink probably has people acting like little girls at this point. Honestly, I am at that stage too, because the DOOM pre-order bonus pack from GameStop makes an awesome game become even more awesome, and retro at that.

By pre-ordering Brink at GameStop, you will receive a voucher to download the DOOM pack; with it, you can outfit your character in a sporty DOOM hat, rock a DOOM tat, or, kill with a DOOM gat!

  • Unique "Hellspawn" body tattoo
  • Exclusive UAC (Security) and Cacodemon (Resistance) customized skins for the Bulpdaun SMG
  • Exclusive UAC Marine Body Armor (Security) and Lost Soul Screaming Skull *(Resistance) t-shirts, exclusive UAC beanie cap (Security) and DOOM bandana (Resistance)

Check for the video after the break.

Brink Releasing One Week Earlier

Bethesda Softworks announced this morning that their upcoming first-person shooter Brink will be releasing one week earlier than originally announced. This makes the game's release date May 10 instead of May 17 in North America, and May 13 instead of May 20 in Europe.

Pete Hines, Bethesda's VP of PR and Marketing, stated that the team wrapped up production on Brink sooner than expected, and that they "didn't see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready." Quite the admirable move; games are usually pushed back a few weeks...or, months.

Brink is being developed by Splash Damage, a team that is well known in the multi-player field, and will feature single-player, co-operative, and multiplayer modes.

Brink will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Turrets Get Hacked in All New Brink Trailer

Brink is shaping up to be quite the F.P.S. experience, and with every new trailer we are teased with more and more bits of gameplay. The newest trailer released today is no different; titled, "Ready & Able", this trailer gives us some insight on the game's turret and hacking abilities.

Multiplayer Is Taking a Back Seat, and I Love It

The first-person shooter genre has grown in popularity over the years, more so than with the release of past games like DOOM, Quake, and Goldeneye. Halo: Combat Evolved revitalized the genre on consoles with its release on the original Xbox in 2001. It brought an intuitive dual-analog control scheme, something which has been a staple in shooters ever since, as well as the birth of the series’ household multiplayer suite.

Brink-'A Matter of Class' Trailer

Brink is headed our way in a few months and the developers want to make sure you are thinking long and hard about what class you will pick in your adventure. Hence, the newest trailer that came out today--'A Matter of Class' demos some of the classes available to choose from which range from the standard lot of Medic, Operations (Infiltrator), and the like. However, they still look awesome!

Peep the trailer below, and remember, there's the right class for every situation...
