Iron Brigade now available worldwide

Iron Brigade, the game formerly known as "you know what," is now available for download worldwide for 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live Arcade, developer Double Fine announced today.

Already have Tre-, Iron Brigade? No problem--just download the update that you'll be prompted with next time you boot up the game under that other name. Doing so will also nab "new loot, leaderboards, and an awesome survival mode for FREE!"

Double Fine is also selling I-shirts on their store. Why "I-shirt," you ask? "That [t-shirt] would get us sued," they say. Oh, how right you are, Double Fine, how right you are.

Xbox Live Marketplace slashes price on Monday Night Combat, Section 8:Prejudice, and more

The Xbox Live Marketplace slashed the price on many titles during its ridiculous sale that is currently going on. Monday Night Combat and Section 8: Prejudice are among the affected titles (full list here), which now sell for 600 and 800 Microsoft Points respectively, half the original prices. The sale lasts until next Monday, October 3.

Happy savings!

[UPDATE] Crysis heading to the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this October

2007's smash PC hit, Crysis, will be releasing on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this fall, as revealed exclusively on GameTrailers TV last night.

The debut trailer (here) features all in-game footage from the Xbox 360 version (as well as praising quotes), and the game itself is said to boast "all new lighting, all new effects, and all new Nanosuit controles."

Only a release date of October was given, so we'll just have to wait a little while for pricing.

[UPDATE] EA announced Crysis will be priced at $19.99/1600 MS Points.

Get trenched in Europe this September with Iron Brigade

After a long struggle, it seems that Microsoft has taken the "just end it now" approach by changing Double Fine's tower-defense, mech-based shooter's name from Trenched to Iron Brigade. This name change is for Europe only, as recently the game was undergoing copyright infringement against a board game with a similar name, "Trench."

Nevertheless, the game will still be just as excellent--no matter what it's called.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive puts a new paint job on an old friend

The Counter-Strike series is an undeniable fan favorite, so what better way to please the fans than to give them an updated version of Counter-Strike: Source? Well, perhaps release an entirely new game...but that's beside the point! Counter-Stike: Global Offensive is set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Store, and Steam (both PC and Mac) with new weapons, maps, matchmaking options, leaderboards, and more sometime next year. There will also be updated versions of classic CS: Source content, such as de_dust.

That's the skinny for now, with no screenshots or pricing details to speak of. Still, this must've made a lot of peoples' day. Those who absolutely must play Global Offensive as soon as possible--or at least see it in action--can do so at PAX Prime and the London Game Festival.

The clock is ticking in Strike Suit Zero, due out Q1 2012

Earth is in its final hours and it's up to you to take control of a transforming spacecraft and save your home planet. That's the gist of Doublesix Games' upcoming arcade shooter Strike Suit Zero. You may know them as the same team the brought us Burn Zombie Burn! and the upcoming All Zombies Must Die! Taking a break from the whole "zombacolypse" bit, Strike Suit Zero features the aforementioned transforming robots designed by known mech creator Junji Okubo (Steel Battalion, Appleseed: Ex Machina).

There's not much known about the game, but Joystiq states the Zero will have a branching mission structure, with the player's decisions having an effect on each subsequent mission. We'll surely find out more before the game's slated Q1 2012 release for the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC. Until then, just marvel at the above screen.

Get Prejudice on PSN; New "Skirmish" mode now available

After being available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Games for Windows platforms for quite some time now, TimeGate Studios' Section 8: Prejudice is now available on the PlayStation Network for $14.99. Prejudice is also celebrating the release of its fifth game mode, "Skirmish."

In "Skirmish", players are pitted against each other in a variant of team deathmatch. Unlike past game modes, Control Points cannot be captured or hacked here, but instead Victory Points are awarded for each kill and DCM completed.

If a new mode doesn't excite you enough, TimeGate is also hosting a "Game with Devs" night on July 31, and you can find out more about that here.

Assault Mode Unlocked in Section 8: Prejudice

Well, soldiers, you've done it! After fighting a long, hard, rigorous set of galactic battles, the brand-spankin'-new Assault mode has been unlocked in Section 8: Prejudice for the Xbox 360 and PC. TimeGate just released the news today, leading me to believe the 10 millionth kill occurred in the whee hours of the morning.

Assault mode is an attack-and-defend mode, where the attackers are aiming to capture set control points on a map in a given time, and obviously, the defenders need to stop them.

It sounds fun, it's free, and ultimately adds to the insane amount of content provided for $14.99.

TimeGate Studios released a new update for Section 8: Prejudice, their newest first-person shooter, that addresses a few issues the game was suffering from. You get your usual server stability fixes and user-interface adjustments, but nonetheless, it's good to see a developer catering to their product so efficiently.

Rent Dedicated Servers on Section 8: Prejudice XBLA

If you bought the recent XBLA FPS Section 8: Prejudice and would like some added customization to the game's online multiplayer, you're in luck! Developer TimeGame Studios forged a partnership with GameServers.com in order to provide PC-hosted dedicated server rentals for Prejudice--a first for the XBLA.

For those that don't know, dedicated servers are famous in the PC market because they allow players to host their own game rooms and customize the game and game-modes to their liking...down to the last shotgun slug!

Adel Chaveleh, President of TimeGate Studios states that the creation and management of a dedicated server for Prejudice is a "no-brainer", so people new to the feature should be able to hop in and get one up with no problem.

The servers are available to rent now, are playable with up to 32 players, and they can be designated to both "Ranked" and "Unranked" camps. Oh, and don't forget, EVERYTHING is customizable!

You can rent your servers here.

After Eight Months, The Bacon is Still Crispy

With last year's Xbox Live "Summer of Arcade" special we were treated with the tower-defense title Monday Night Combat from Uber Entertainment. It brought with it a witty and sometimes dark sense of humor, gorgeous visuals, and a surprisingly great online experience.

XBLA: Shadow Complex, Monday Night Combat, and More On Sale Today Only

Today, April 15, Microsoft is hosting a one-day Xbox Live Arcade sale that discounts five awesome games by 50%. Even though all five are awesome, you should definitely take a look at Monday Night Combat and Shadow Complex (mostly because they fit the blog's criteria).

Monday Night Combat is a multiplayer tower-defense game that is set on a balls-to-the-walls game show, and Shadow Complex harkens back to old-school side-scrolling action. Both can be picked up for 600 MS Points TODAY!

Check out the other titles on sale on Major Nelson's blog.

Xotic: The Healthy, Organic FPS Coming to XBLA

Yet another FPS has been announced for the Xbox 360 and its Arcade library, and this time it comes in the form of Xotic. However, developer WXP Games hopes Xotic's colorful palet and unique gameplay will set it apart from the rest of the crowd.

Xotic puts players in a bio-organic environment and has them aiming their sights against "life choking Scab plants" in order to rack up the most points. Players will also collect orbs and yes, shoot baddies. The game is a blend of FPS and action--certainly fitting the criteria of an XBLA title, no?

Xotic also features weapon upgrades and power-ups via XP, seemingly adding to the "compulsion" aspect that WXP Games says Xotic has.

There's no doubting that it looks interesting, and with it being slated for a summer release we won't have to wait too long to get our hands on it.

While Leviathan only has one gun-slot, his backflip grenade throw and slide attack will more than make you forget about the other one.
