Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon attacks Steam this holiday

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will bring the bug-splattering mayhem to Steam when it releases on the service this holiday, D3Publisher announced

In addition to containing all of the previously released console downloadable content, the Steam version of Insect Armageddon will also contain cloud saving and Steam Achievements.

Four new DLC weapon packs will also be released, each bundled with ten new weapons, so you'll definitely have the perfect weapon for every bug.

Massacre insects with new EDF: Insect Armageddon DLC

New weapons are available for last month's giant insect slaughter romp, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. The weapon packs "Death from Above!" and "Pounds of Pain!" are available on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network for 240 Points/$2.99 each, respectively. Both sets include fifteen new weapons, ranging from assault rifles, rocket launchers, and missile launchers. Bug spray is not included, though.

Why Wait? Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is out Now!

While originally slated for a July 5 release, retailers are beginning to sell copies of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon today. After traveling to my local GameStop, the clerk stated that the shipment arrived yesterday and they were told to start selling the game today.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is the sequel to the cult-classic EDF: 2017, and retails for $39.99 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Trailer: Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon Brings Down the House

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon seems to have less to do with killing giant, sometimes mechanized insects, and more to do with causing mass destruction in the city of New Detroit--more so than the chaos that already occupies the actual state of Detroit.

After watching the trailer, I don't think even Robocop himself can help the cause.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon releases for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next Tuesday.
