There's a whole heaping of Call of Duty sales on Xbox Live this week

Whatever isn't sold gets torched!

This week, the Xbox Live Marketplace is hosting what appears to be a Call of Duty blowout sale, where they are virtually cleaning house on anything Call of Duty--though, being a downloadable store, it's quite impossible to run out of stock.

Be that as it may, there's quite a bit of content to save some cash on, with the biggest of the "deals" being Call of Duty: Black Ops priced at $49.99, and Modern Warfare 2 priced at $34.99. While these are technically deals for the Marketplace, a thrifty consumer can pick up both titles at way cheaper prices pretty much anywhere else; the "X-factor" in that equation is whether or not you want to drive all the way to the store.

Other deals are to be had as well, with Modern Warfare 2's "Stimulus Package" priced at 600 MS Points, and all of World at War's DLC priced at 400 MS Points. Check here for the full "Everything must go" list.

What You Need to Know: Call of Duty XP 2011

Activision is hosting a two-day Call of Duty community event--ala BlizzCon--called Call of Duty XP 2011. The event takes place Los Angeles, naturally, and will only feature the Call of Duty franchise, so no need to worry about any other Activision title showing up out of nowhere. There's a lot to know about Call of Duty XP 2011, so let's bullet-point the nitty gritty.

People Really Want to Try Out Call of Duty Elite

According to Dan Amrich, Activision's social media manager, over 2 million people have enlisted to beta-test Call of Duty Elite--this accrued in less than two weeks, mind you.

If you don't already know, Call of Duty Elite is a paid service that will allow players to form groups, compete against each other, and share game films. Basically, well, from the sound of it, Elite allows you to do everything you can do now, for free, but at a "premium" rate.

To take part in the free beta and see what it's all about, check out CallofDuty.com/Elite.

Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 Announcement Incoming?

It's roughly that time of year again! You know, the time when a new entry in the ga-zillion dollar franchise Call of Duty is announced? Well, according to CVG, the newest title in the series could be the heavily rumored Modern Warfare 3, as hinted by Craig Fairbrass, the voice behind Modern Warfare 2's Simon "Ghost" Riley.

Fairbrass mentioned to UK sports radio station talkSPORT that he's been off working on a "$200 million" Activision game; obviously, this can't be a Guitar Hero reboot. He also noted that whatever it is he's doing will come out in an announcement in May, so, we potentially have 28 days of anticipation ahead of us.

Would you want to see a new iteration in the Modern Warfare sub-series?
