The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta has been delayed due to feedback given by professional Counter-Strike 1.6 players, Valve announced.
Valve's Chet Faliszek explained the professionals were allowed to play Global Offensive early because they can "talk intelligently" about it.
"They gave us a lot of feedback on things we should get in the game before we release it, otherwise we're going to be getting a lot of bug reports or a lot of feedback and it would just be redundant."
There's no word on when the beta will begin, which was originally planned for October, but Faliszek did say that 10,000 players will be invited at the start, with more to gain access as the servers get tested. Eventually, the beta will be open to everyone.
Content will be scarce at the beta's start, offering around two maps, and will end when the community says so.
"We have no mandate from anybody of when we have to ship this. So we're more than happy to just keep working on this 'til it's ready to ship."
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was announced with an early 2012 release for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
