Gridlock is one of those maps that's just perfect. It's a symmetrical map, yes, which is often frowned upon, but perhaps it's just that which makes Gridlock so re-playable. Continuing the trend, Gridlock will make an appearance in Gears of War 3's multiplayer, albeit a more darker, grittier one than before. Though I do wonder how many landscapers it took to clear off all that moss and greenery from Gears of War 2.
