DICE's Johan Andersson revealed on Twitter that Battlefield 3 will not display at 720p on consoles, and instead will run at 1280x704.
"Removing a few lines from 720p saves good performance and memory for us," Andersson explained.
He later responded to Digital Foundry, "We have tiny eight-pixel black bars that are often invisible due to overscan--scaling would just ruin the picture."
Eurogamer does remind us, though, that many games are below a 720p display, such as last year's Black Ops, which ran at 1040x608 on the Xbox 360 and 960x544 on the PlayStation 3.
