While MechWarrior Online was announced a decade ago, the game will finally see the light of day next year in the form of a free-to-play, team-based multiplayer first-person shooter. (Whew!)
An official website has also surfaced which allows you to reserve your pilot name--you know, in case you really, really want to be called Goose?
Developer Piranha's creative director Bryan Ekman and president Russ Bullock also assures enthusiasts that MechWarrior Online is going to be a proper MechWarrior game--along the lines of MechWarrior 2 through 4--and is "running an offset timeline of the BattleTech Universe," with the year in-game being 3048.
PC Gamer has a ton of exclusive coverage on MechWarrior Online, so those who are interested will surely be in for a treat checking it out.
