EA stiffs Battlefield 3 consumers out of free Battlefield 1943, replaced by early DLC

[UPDATE: Starting December, PS3 users can redeem BF1943 vouchers]

This past June, EA and Sony announced that a special freebie will be included with the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 3-- the 2009 downloadable shooter, Battlefield 1943.

As it turns out, this promotion didn't run, and after being questioned by a Battlefield 3 consumer, the official Battlefield Twitter noted it had been replaced.

"In lieu of Battlefield 1943 being available on disk for for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to customers."

The early downloadable content promotion was revealed back in September, and will see each Battlefield 3 expansion arrive on the PlayStation Store a week before everybody else. Yay...?
