Grand Theft Auto III released on iOS, Android devices

Ten years ago, Rockstar rocked the world with the release of Grand Theft Auto III, which not only reinvented an already established series, but set the precedent for the open-world genre that we know today. It was also one of the first heavy-hitting games to grace the PlayStation 2, which then went on to spawn two sequels: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas.

Odds are, most of you know that already. However, there are some who don't, and those lucky loos can now experience what we did ten years ago on their mobile devices for a mere $5. As announced in October, Rockstar has released Grand Theft Auto III on Apple and Android devices, which includes: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, and the fourth-generation iPod Touch. For Android users, this includes: HTZ Rezound, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, and T-Mobile G2x.

Android tablets also join in on the fun: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, 10.1, Sony Tablet S, and Toshiba Thrive.

Writing this post made me realize two things: Rockstar offers a ton of ways to play a classic, and that things are much, much simpler with Apple devices.
