Here are the details on every Battlefield 3 game mode


The Battlefield 3 beta is currently underway, and if you think "Rush" is the game's only mode, think again! Battlefield 3 will ship with five modes in total, all of which are playable on all nine initial maps. Returning players will undoubtedly know the ins-and-outs of the list below, but for you newcomers, here's what you can expect come October 25:

  • Team Deathmatch
    • Kill the opposing team a set number of times
    • 12 v. 12 teams
    • no vehicles
    • "...a good place to start" for newcomers
  • Squad Deathmatch
    • Kill the opposing team a set number of times
    • 4 squads of 4 (16 players total)
    • "...a larger and more dynamic variety of deathmatch"
    • adds Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV)
  • Rush
    • Attack-and-defend M-COM stations
    • 12 v. 12 teams, 16 v. 16 teams (consoles, PC)
    • "...features a large variety of vehicle setups tuned to the map's landscape"
    • Attacking team has limited number of respawns
  • Squad Rush
    • Attack-and-defend M-COM stations
    • 4 v. 4 teams
    • "...extremely tight duel between two squads"
    • Infantry-based--no vehicles
  • Conquest
    • Capture and hold flags, kill opposing team set number of times
    • 12 v. 12 teams, up to 32 v. 32 teams (consoles, PC)
    • "...the most classic of Battlefield game modes"
    • Capture enough flags, the opposing team will "bleed" tickets, or respawn count
