Free bacon is super bacon with Super Monday Night Combat

Monday Night Combat, one of last year's "Summer of Arcade" games on the Xbox 360, was a surprisingly enjoyable third-person tower-defense game. It pit two teams against each other in a comical and futuristic arena, with both sides aiming to collapse each other's Moneyball--or, tower.

Developer Uber Entertainment is bringing more MCN action our way with Super Monday Night Combat, a "freemium" game for PC that is heavily inspired by Defense of the Ancients. As seen in the trailer on Kotaku--and image above--the very first thing you'll notice that's different with SMNC is its arenas. There's no more crowd, mascots, or anything futuristic at all, though it's still set in an arena, just one that is more "lush," as Creative Director John Comes states.

However, the core gameplay remains the same, where the Moneyball is still each team's target. This time, though, the fray is joined with a few new characters--Combat Girl, the female support class, The Veteran, a grappling wrestler, and a less powerful sniper known as the Gunslinger.

And remember, all of this is free, with additional premium content available only if you want it.

"We're big believers in allowing people to play the game for free if they want to. If people want to accelerate their power curve--if they want, they can pay for that." Items such as skins, weapon effects, and taunts will be available for players to purchase, and Comes added, "that's how we'll make our money."

Lastly, those who played the original Monday Night Combat will be able to unlock exclusive goodies in Super Monday Night Combat, and that's always cool.
