New Prey 2 Info Revealed; New Hero, Same Bar

Although Bethesda Softworks announced Prey 2 (officially) a week ago, no actual information was revealed about it. Well, UK gaming mag Game Reactor was able to catch a word or two with Human Head Studios and find out a couple of new details regarding the anticipated sequel.

Players will take control of Sheriff Killian Samuels and start the game off in the same bar that was featured in the first game. The same bar is featured because Prey 2 is geared toward being a retelling of the first game's events rather than being tagged as an actual "sequel". Additionally, multiplayer is taking a backseat this time around, with HHS concentrating purely on the single-player adventure. The reason? Quite smart, actually:

"Who would pick the multiplayer mode of 'Prey 2' ahead of the one in for example 'Halo: Reach'?"

With this full concentration on the single-player comes some interesting concepts:

The inspiration for Prey 2 comes from games like Mirror's Edge, with the protagonist moving throughout the environment (said to be "comparable to Assassin's Creed 2") using parkour style methods. Additionally, Killzone style gunplay and Borderlands' loot system also play a role in Prey 2, giving us a very different, and from the sound of it, a very promising sequel.

DLC is also planned for Prey 2, but no additional word was provided on that.

Can this cherry-pick style of game developing work? Is Prey 2 trying to do too many things at once? I guess time will tell, and maybe E3 will provide us with more answers.
